The Pose Method is a surgical technique which reduces the stomach through endoscopy. It leaves no scars and provides substantial benefits for patients.

POSE (Primary Obesity Surgery Endoluminal) is a non-invasive surgical procedure which allows the stomach capacity to be reduced via the oral route thanks to next-generation technical tools.

Endoluminal surgery is based on reducing the stomach’s capacity in order to help the patient feel satiated sooner and thus ingest fewer calories. This new technique enables surgery to be performed without having to make any incisions in the patient’s abdomen.

The surgical procedure is performed using a flexible endoscope and the IOP (incisionless operating platform) platform.  In short, it offers new technical and instrumental possibilities for performing advanced surgical procedures through the habitual endoscopic channels.

The endoscope and IOP instruments are inserted through the mouth until they reach the stomach. From then on our medical team can reduce the capacity of patient’s stomach via an oral route (non-invasive). The technique used consists of making a series of folds in the stomach that helps reduce its capacity and consequently increases the patient’s ability to feel satiated sooner.

After being discharged the patient can resume a relatively normal life 24 hours after the operation, without having to request sick leave. “The patient can be operated on a Friday and return to work the following Monday”.

One month later the patient can ingest a conventional balanced diet, under the supervision of our medical team.

Like any other therapy targeted at weight loss, the process and/or treatment does not end after performing the endoluminal surgery (i.e., stomach reduction) and the patient must stick to the diet, do the exercises and heed the recommendations made by the medical team about changing habits.

It may also be suitable for patients with a intragastric balloon or who have undergone bariatric surgery and not improved, or those who do not want to undergo major surgery.

This type of procedure is particulary recommended for patients who are overweight or obese and have a body mass index (BMI) between 34 and 40 kg/m2 and who have not improved with dietetic treatment.
